π Engel Tech Shop β Service & Repair Policies (Detailed Version)

These policies are designed to protect both Engel Tech Shop and our customers by setting clear expectations about payments, warranties, risks, timelines, and responsibilities.
π§ Payment Policy
Parts Payment: Customers must pay in full for replacement parts (e.g., screens, batteries) before they are ordered.
Repair Services β€ $100: Payment may be made by cash or credit/debit card. (All card transactions carry a processing fee of 2.8%)
Repair Services > $100: Payment may be requested by check, money order, or wire transfer.
Due at Completion: All repair invoices are due upon completion of service and prior to release of the device, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Non-Refundable Fees: Payment processor fees (typically 5%) are non-refundable on canceled or returned orders.
π Returns & Exchanges
Faulty Items: Engel Tech Shop offers a 30-day return policy for items deemed faulty upon receipt. Customer covers return shipping. Refunds are subject to non-refundable bank fees.
Non-Faulty Returns: Subject to a 20% restocking fee plus payment processing fees. Customer covers return shipping.
Exchanges: 30-day exchange policy. No restock fee unless exchanging for a higher-priced item, in which case the price difference applies. Customer covers return shipping.
RMA Required: All returns and exchanges require prior RMA approval.
β οΈ Repair Risks
Electronics repairs are inherently unpredictable. By leaving your device with Engel Tech Shop, you acknowledge these risks:
General Risk: Some devices may be beyond repair or may be permanently damaged during service. Circuit board components deteriorate over time and can fail without warning.
Liquid Damage: Devices affected by spills or immersion are prone to corrosion, oxidation, and rust. Even if repairs are successful, long-term reliability cannot be guaranteed.
Screens & Glass: Devices with glued-on screens (such as iPads) require prying to access internals. Though we are experienced, there is always a risk the screen may crack during removal.
Biometric Systems: Touch ID and Face ID on Apple devices can fail during repair and become permanently disabled depending on device condition.
Known GPU Failures: Some devices, like 2011 MacBooks/iMacs and certain HP/Dell/Toshiba models, are known for GPU issues and may fail suddenly during or after service.
We take every precaution possible, but Engel Tech Shop is not responsible for risks beyond our control.
π Estimates
We provide detailed estimates whenever possible. However, some issues can only be identified once repair begins.
Estimates may evolve as the repair progresses.
Our initial estimate remains valid within its original scope, though additional issues may require a revised quote.
Explicit authorization is always required before any work begins (via work order, email, or written approval).
β±οΈ Repair Timeframes
Standard repairs are typically completed within 1β5 business days, but timing depends on parts availability, complexity, and unforeseen issues.
Quoted service times are estimates only and not guarantees.
β‘ Expedited Repair Service
Customers may request expedited repair for a $95 fee, paid prior to diagnostics.
Expedited repairs are prioritized with an estimated 1β2 business day turnaround (excluding shipping delays for parts).
If expedited timing cannot be met (other than due to parts delays), the repair reverts to standard service and the $95 fee will be credited to the customerβs final invoice.
π‘οΈ Limited Shop Warranty
Engel Tech Shop offers a 90-day warranty on all repairs, covering the original issue and parts replaced.
If the original issue recurs within 90 days, we will re-perform the repair at no extra charge.
Exclusions:
Issues unrelated to the original repair.
Customer damage (drops, liquid exposure, electrical surges, viruses/malware).
Devices tampered with or modified after repair.
Services performed with customer-supplied parts.
Shipping: Customer covers shipping to us; Engel Tech Shop covers return shipping on warranty claims.
No Renewal: Warranty repairs do not extend the original 90-day period.
π© Replacement Parts Procedure
Parts must be prepaid: 50% deposit for parts under $100, 100% for parts over $100.
Engel Tech Shop does not guarantee the success of repairs with customer-supplied parts, and such parts are not covered by any Engel Tech Shop warranty.
π§ Repair Attempt Fee
For advanced services (motherboard work, data recovery, prior repair attempts), a repair attempt fee of $40β$100 may be charged if the repair is unsuccessful.
π¦ Shipping Policy
Devices must be securely packaged. If you decline insurance, shipping damage is at your risk.
If you provide your own shipping label, you must include adequate insurance.
Engel Tech Shop does not ship to hotels.
πΎ Data & Data Recovery
Customers should always back up data before service. Engel Tech Shop is not responsible for data loss during repairs.
Some repairs carry a risk of data loss; customers will be informed if this is likely.
Data Recovery Service: Costs range from $150β$1500. Recovery is attempted to the best of our ability, but results are not guaranteed.
Recovered data is placed on a new drive supplied by Engel Tech Shop. Original drives are not returned as they are dismantled during recovery.
π± Device Pickup & Storage
Devices must be picked up within 60 days of completion notice.
After 60 days, devices may be considered abandoned and Engel Tech Shop may recycle, resell, or charge $40/month storage.
At least two documented contact attempts will be made before a device is considered abandoned.
βοΈ Legal Terms
Governing Law: These policies are governed by the laws of Minnesota.
Limitation of Liability: Engel Tech Shopβs liability is limited to the amount paid for services performed on the affected device.
Severability: If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
